1999 Rehabilitaion

After addressing the major safety issues in the Parish Hall, the rehabilitation effort turned its attention to buttoning up the outside shell of the Parish Hall, fixing the roof and restoring the stained glass windows.

The old St. Lawrence slate roof was in poor shape, with its copper flashing, gutters and trim literally wearing out.

The exterior trim of the St. Lawrence was restored with meticulous attention to detail.

Sponsored by a $121,000 federal Community Development Block Grant granted by the City of Portland, the next order of business was replacing the slate and copper roof, performed by Demmons Roofing.

A $15,000 grant from the Libra Foundation sponsored Mike Lorello and the St. Lawrence stained glass workshop's restoration of the Parish Hall's windows, frames and sashes, all of which were severely damaged due to decades of neglect, water damage and exposure to the elements.
